Once awakened by your new fairy companion, Navi, you may leave Link’s house. Outside, you will be greeted by Link’s friend, Saria.
Walk towards the ladder to climb down from Link’s treehouse. You can save time by dropping from the ladder with A.

Take a right from Link’s house towards the Great Deku Tree. You’ll find the entrance to his grove blocked by the Kokiri boy, Mido. He’ll demand that you enter properly equipped with a sword and a shield. Not to worry, you can find both within the Kokiri Forest.

You’ll want to obtain the Kokiri Sword first. Proceed past Link’s house and walk up the slope to the left. You’ll find a small maze of fences directly ahead. Walk through them and approach the hole in the wall in the back.
