Blue Ring
This item will decrease the amount of damage that Link takes from his enemies by half. When wearing the Blue Ring, Link's tunic will turn blue! To obtain this item, you need to purchase it from a shop for 250 rupees.
Bomb
Once obtained, a Bomb can be placed at any spot, and it will explode within a few seconds. Link can only carry eight Bombs at once. Obtain Bombs by defeating enemies or purchasing them in shops.
Boomerang
The Boomerang can be thrown across the screen and quickly it will return to Link. Once the Boomerang makes contact with an enemy, it will instantly destroy it. The larger enemies will only be stunned. This is clearly one of the most useful items in the entire game! Obtain it in the first dungeon.
Bow & Arrow
This item allows Link to shoot arrows at enemies. Link can shoot newly obtained arrows as long as he can pay for them (it costs one rupee per arrow). The Bow can be found in the first dungeon and arrows can be found in shops or by killing enemies.
Candle
The candle will burn down obstacles leading to important passages that will allow you to progress through the game. There are two types of candles: red and blue. Blue candles can be bought in shops and can only be used once per screen. The red candle can be obtained in the seventh dungeon and can be used infinitely.
Clock
The clock will freeze all enemies on-screen and will make them much easier to kill. But once you move to the next screen, time will return to normal. You can obtain a clock occasionally after defeating an enemy.
Compass
The compass will reveal the location of the room in which a shard of the Triforce has been hidden within the dungeon it has been found.
Enemy Bait
This will lure certain enemies to its location, once set on the ground.
Fairy
This magical fairy will help you on your long quest. They will replenish some of your life when you save or encounter one.
Heart Containers
A Heart Container will increase the maximum amount of damage that Link can withstand, by adding an extra heart to his life meter. For more details on the Heart Container, visit the Heart Container Locations page.
Heart
These items will increase Link's life meter by one. They can be found after destroying an enemy and can even sometimes be bought in a shop.
Keys
A key will open up a locked door within a dungeon. You can find them after defeating enemies. Be aware that there is a special key that exists called The Magical Key, which is said to open up every locked door within the game!
Ladder
This item can be found in the fourth dungeon, from which it can be used to cross a small patch of water.
Letter
An old man in a North Eastern cave in Hyrule will give you this item, where you can then show to old ladies so they can sell you magical potions.
Magical Sword
This sword will inflict four times as much damage as the Wooden Sword. Find it deep within the Graveyard!
Magic Boomerang
This Boomerang replaces the original Boomerang, as it can fly farther and faster! You can find it in the second dungeon.
Magic Wand
Use the Magic Wand to attack enemies with an energy blast. Find this useful item in the sixth dungeon.
Map
Once you obtain this item within the dungeon it is found, a map of the dungeon will suddenly appear at the top left-hand part of the screen. Now, you will be able to navigate your way through the Underworld with more ease.
Power Bracelet
This item will allow Link to gain the power of a titan, as he will be able to lift heavy objects such as rocks. It has been said to be hidden under an Armos Statue somewhere in the vast land of Hyrule.
Raft
Travel across the sea with this Raft. It is found in the third dungeon, where then you can use it to find the location of the fourth level.
Red Ring
Obtained in Death Mountain, this ring will turn Link's outfit red, as well as decrease the damage taken by enemies by a fourth.
Rupee
This is Hyrule's currency. Rupees are used to buy items in shops and Link will need this money to advance through the game. You can find rupees in many places, most commonly they are left behind after killing an enemy. A yellow rupee is worth one and the rare flashing blue rupee is worth five. Link can only carry a total of 255 rupees.
Shield
This item will repel certain object hurled at Link. Just face the object that is incoming and it will simply bounce away. There are shield upgrades that will allow Link to deflect stronger attacks.
Triforce Shard
Found at the end of a dungeon, if you collect all eight pieces of the Triforce, Link will be able to enter the final stage of the game: Ganon's Hideout!
Whistle
The Whistle can make very strange things happen. It is advised to use it against the enemy in the fifth dungeon, the dungeon in which it can be found.
White Sword
This sword is twice as strong as the Wooden Sword and can be found at the top of the waterfall among the Lost Hills, but you must have at least five Heart Containers in order to wield it!
Wooden Sword
This is Link's first item in the game. Obtain it by entering the cave at the upper left-hand part of the screen when you first start.
